Roper Gulf Regional Council provides a range of services over an area that spans 185,000 sq km (80% the size of Victoria) that covers the region east and southeast of Katherine, Northern Territory. The total estimated resident population of the region is 6,919.

About the Opportunity

Roper Gulf Regional Council (RGRC) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Council Service Coordinator to join their Council Services team in Borroloola, NT, on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Area Manager Council Services, you will be responsible for coordinating the effective delivery of core municipal services under the Council Services Directorate Operational Plan. 

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Overseeing the core services delivery model across Borroloola;
  • Actively managing the workforce employed to deliver Council Services programs;
  • Maintaining and implementing work plans for each program as directed;
  • Establishing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships with all Council work teams and relevant government agency officers; and
  • Contributing to the achievement of objectives outlined in Council's strategic plan and regional plan.

To be considered, you must have a demonstrated record of achievement in the delivery of local government or community services and successful completion of small projects. With a strong operational background, you will be able to effectively plan activities across a range of locations for a period in excess of one month. In addition, any experience gained in plant operation in a civil construction context would be advantageous.

Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking someone with exceptional organisational skills, who can effectively coordinate and manage a team, and a number of projects simultaneously. With well developed interpersonal and communication skills, you will be able to liaise with a wide variety of employees and external stakeholders, ensuring strong working relationships are established.

Candidates with an awareness of issues affecting Indigenous communities in remote locations would be well suited to this position, equipping you with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with Indigenous people.

A current 'C' and 'LR' Driver's Licence and a Working with Children Clearance Notice (OCHRE Card) are essential to be considered for this position. You will also be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and update each year as required. Please note, some out of hours work, including occasional travel to remote communities requiring overnight stays will be required.
