About the Organisation

Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution was founded in 1880, the RFBI is the second-oldest benevolent institution formed in NSW to assist and support people in need.

In recent years, the RFBI has extended its support and benevolence activities by providing retirement accommodation and lifestyle care facilities in village communities around NSW and the ACT. Today there are 22 RFBI villages. Situated on the shores of St Georges Basin, Basin View is approximately 200km south of Sydney and 25km south of Nowra. Home to around 1,300 residents, the town is part of the greater City of Shoalhaven, which attracts tourists from across Australia thanks to striking hillsides and beautiful beaches.

About the Opportunity

RFBI has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Care Manager to join their dynamic team in the Basin View Community Aged Care facility in Basin View, NSW. 

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be accountable for the effective delivery of inspired care to older persons. Using expert clinical knowledge and leadership skills, you will take a Case Management approach to aligning the service with all relevant legislation, and ensuring people receive care that is suitable to their needs and preferences, while keeping with the values of RFBI.

Within this position, your key responsibilities will also include (but will not be limited to):

  • Utilizing sound service development, business planning, and risk management practices, to manage and allocate human resources, material, and financial resources within an established budget;
  • Evaluating resident care against comprehensive assessment processes and individual care plans;
  • Conducting performance management of all care staff, undertaking disciplinary measures if required, and ensuring staff have the education and resources to effectively fulfill their roles;
  • Completing clinical assessments and documentation for ACFI; and
  • Coordinating with the General Manager and Management Committee in setting objectives and goals for the facility.

To apply for this position you must be a Registered Nurse, with a thorough understanding of the Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI). As this role encompasses the monitoring of policies and processes and their relevant documentation, you must also have a good level of computer literacy and knowledge of computerised care documentation systems, along with sound written skills.

Extensive clinical and management experience within and aged care setting or healthcare/nursing setting will be essential, as will experience in managing resources and working to budgets.

You will possess excellent leadership and communication skills having previous experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, and you will have a proven track record of successfully implementing change and culture management. Furthermore, you will be confident in the recruitment and management of staff, with tertiary qualifications in Management or equivalent being an advantage.

Please note, to be eligible for this position, you must possess the following:

  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Australian Driver's License
  • Current AFP Police Check
