About the Organisation

The West Daly Regional Council commenced operation on July 1st, 2014, in response to an identified need to present a stronger voice and greater control over the delivery of services in the West Daly area. The new council entity covers the Wadeye-Peppimenarti-Palumpa areas and exists to serve and strengthen the community through the laws, policies and programs of Councils and the Northern Territory Government.

About the Opportunity

West Daly Regional Council has a rewarding opportunity for a Grants Officer to join their team based in the Darwin head office, NT on a full-time, 12 month contract.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing and facilitating successful funding and grant applications for the provision of Council services and local community projects. It is further responsible for the acquittal of grant and funding applications.

Your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Developing a strategic approach to identification and pursuit of grant opportunities;
  • Identifying available grants, funding opportunities, philanthropic trusts, sponsorships and other sources of funds for both Council and community groups;
  • Identifying appropriate Council and community projects which may be eligible for funding, advise potential internal and external benefactors and assist with applications;
  • Preparing quality grants and funding submissions and assisting others with the process including conducting research and analysis to support funding applications;
  • Completing, or assisting with the completion of agreement, compliance, monitoring and acquittal processes; 
  • Arranging appropriate execution of Council grants and funding documentation and complete reporting requirements; and
  • Preparing grant acquittals in accordance with agreement requirements.

To be considered for this role you will hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, as well as significant demonstrated experience working within a similar role, ideally within a local government organisation. Additionally, you'll have experience in the application of records management policies and procedures. 

You will have significant experience with securing and executing grants and other funding, and will be well versed in writing grant submissions and maintaining appropriate associated documentation. Your problem solving skills and networking abilities will allow you to find new sources of possible funding either through your own research or through your network of contacts within the government and NFP sectors.

You will have excellent written communication skills to aid in the submission of grant proposals, and will have a high level of attention to detail.

A current Australian driver's licence is required for this role.
