Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading the sales function of the Construction Machinery division and as the sole dealership in PNG for JCB Machinery, you will have the unique opportunity to sell their generating sets, bulldozers, agricultural tractors, bulldozers, graders and dump trucks.

You'll be driving sales and commercial profitability through building and maintaining relationships with customers across the region. In addition, you'll also coach, mentor and performance manage a sales team of approximately 30 people, to ensure that sales targets are met and team profits are delivered.

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Achieving agreed sales targets;
  • Developing account specific promotional planned activities;
  • Expanding the company's product range with existing customers;
  • Conducting regular market price surveys and intelligence reports, detailing new entrants and competitor activity; and
  • Recruiting staff for the Machinery Division and providing induction and training.

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in the sales industry and adopt a "hunter" approach to drive sales and conversions. You'll also need a sound background selling in the construction industry, specifically with heavy machinery including backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, rollers, loaders, graders and agricultural machinery so you can provide solutions to clients that meet their requirements.

A proven leader, you'll be able to manage and train staff with ease and influence, meet KPIs and sales targets, and lead by example. Utilising your excellent communication skills, you will be able to build and maintain solid relationships with both staff and customers alike, and will thrive in a team environment. You'll also be providing product training to external stakeholders, so the ability to train and educate with influence will be highly regarded, as will the ability to further develop training programs.

You'll have a hands-on approach to your workload, and will be reliable, driven, well presented and self-motivated. A high energy attitude is essential, as well as a reasonable degree of physical fitness. Importantly, you'll work well under pressure and will be able to prioritise your workload to changing priorities and deadlines. You'll also have previous budgeting and planning experience, as well as experience managing a P&L.

It is essential that you are willing to travel throughout the region to meet with clients and to engage in key networking events.
