About Contact Children's Mobile Service?

Contact was established in 1979 to celebrate the International ‘Year of the Child’. The organisation aims to help address the impacts of isolation for children, families and communities, taking a multifaceted approach to developing new solutions and new initiatives across all child, family and children’s sectors, providing service delivery in ways that best fit local child and family need.

About the Role

Contact Inc has an opportunity for a highly experienced Early Childhood Professional to coordinate day to day service delivery of their Mobile Education Programs based in AliceSprings, and servicing the Utopia Homelands regions.

If you love the sound of this opportunity but are not able to relocate to the Northern Territory on a full-time basis, Contact is offering the opportunity to enter into a negotiable job-share opportunity. This would see you sharing the role over pre-arranged blocks of time with another skilled Contact employee.

More specifically, some of your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Developing implementing and monitoring strategies to identify child and family-related needs;
  • Organising and supervising the delivery of culturally relevant early childhood play-based programs for children;
  • Developing culturally relevant programs for families to support parenting skills and their engagement within the early learning programs delivered; and
  • Maintaining all administrative matters, including relevant accounts documents.

About You

This role calls for a 'visionary' who will help lead the initiative while fulfilling the requirements needed to evolve a new program that is responsive to a variety of child, family and community needs.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Australian Recognised, formal Early Childhood Teacher qualifications with a minimum 4-year Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) or equivalent;
  • Extensive, demonstrated successful leadership and Australian‑based early childhood teaching experience;
  • Maturity and life experiences which have equipped you to enjoy the challenge of this position;
  • A Demonstrated understanding of and respect for individual, social and cultural differences;
  • An enjoyment of new challenges, with a flexible attitude and creative, lateral thinking; and
  • An understanding of the unique special privilege and opportunity that this Position will offer.

If you have a strong sense of community and are inspired by the possibility of working closely with Aboriginal people and other families in rural and remote communities and apply community development skills to further evolve an innovate service model – then this is the role for you!

What Their Staff have to Say

The opportunity to work with the children of the Utopia Homelands has been rewarding on so many levels. I have had the chance to see the children I have taught move onto great success at school. I have seen families see the huge possibilities of their children’s future. I have felt the strength of communities with such a strong cultural sense and I have enjoyed not only working in the beauty of the red centre – but also the joy of using all the treasures our environment has to offer in play based learning.
