About the Opportunity

Harbour City Ferries have an opportunity for a Dock Supervisor to join their team based in Sydney, on a full-time basis. This highly varied role will see you responsible for ensuring the Balmain Shipyard Maintenance Team supports Harbour City Ferries operations to achieve its goals in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner.

Some of your key responsibilities will include;

  • Ensuring that all tasks are conducted with safety as first priority to protect people, equipment, and environment;
  • Ensuring weekly work plans are executed effectively by assigning daily work for the tradespeople, monitoring progress and modifying as required;
  • Participating in the weekly planning and scheduling process meetings to ensure alignment and commitment of resources and plant to the work schedule;
  • Working with planners to ensure parts and consumables are identified well in advance of work execution;
  • Managing direct reports through leave approvals, identifying training and development needs and providing feedback on areas of talent or improvement;
  • Facilitating daily toolbox talks with maintenance crew to ensure understanding of work to be completed and any risks or hazards associated; and
  • Complying with all OHS and Marine regulations, policies, standards and procedures.

You’ll have extensive experience in marine engineering, naval architecture, or shipyard maintenance, alongside experience in vessel operation, maintenance, and repairs.

A demonstrated understanding of Marine Safety legislation and regulations will be key to your success in this position. You’ll have exceptional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, as well as strong computer literacy.
