About the Organisation

For more than 50 years, Centacare Brisbane has been the social services arm of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Brisbane, working in partnership with various levels of government and the community. With a workforce of more than 3000 people (including volunteers) Centacare responds to local needs from over 200 small service sites throughout south-east Queensland, touching the lives of more than 100,000 people each year.

Government funding makes it possible for Centacare to reach those requiring relationship, employment, disability, child care and community support. Centacare also relies significantly on volunteers and donations for its non-government funded Pastoral Ministries work in prisons, hospitals, psychiatric pastoral care, HIV/AIDS education and Indigenous communities.

Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) is part of Centacare in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Branches respond to local community needs throughout South East Queensland.

About the Opportunity

Centacare has an exciting opportunity for a Program Coordinator (Family Dispute) to join their friendly and professional team on the Gold Coast. In this role, you'll be primarily based in Ashmore but will provide services to other regional locations as needed.

Reporting to the Manager of the CFRS programs, you'll be responsible for coordinating, supervising and managing staff, to ensure the effective delivery of services for vulnerable families. This will include implementing and coordinating operational and program activities across Centacare sites.

 More specifically, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining procedures and systems to support programs across the region;
  • Actively seeking out and developing innovative strategies for service delivery improvement;
  • Building positive, collaborative professional relationships with key stakeholders and organisations; and
  • Actively promoting access to Centacare programs and services through a variety of methods.

To be successful in this position, you must hold qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling and be currently registered (or be eligible to register) with the relevant professional association for your discipline. In addition to this, you will also be required to hold a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) Certificate and registration with the Attorney General.

You'll also need significant experience in crisis intervention, risk management and therapeutic / psycho-social educational groups. Experience in community engagement strategies/programs is also essential.

You'll consider yourself a highly organised, accurate and personable individual with a passion for working in the not-for-profit sector and a genuine interest in making a difference to the community. A natural networker and effective relationship builder, you'll be confident liaising with internal and external stakeholders from a range of levels and backgrounds to develop positive, collaborative professional relationships and develop new opportunities. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal communication skills are key in achieving this. 

Most importantly, you will be a calm leader with a good understanding of mediation and informal supervision. In this important and rewarding role, you will not only be improving the outcomes of Australian families but also supporting an exceptional team of professionals. 

A current driver's licence and a QLD Working with Children Blue Card (or eligibility to obtain) is an essential requirement of this position.
