About the Opportunity

A unique opportunity is now available for an experienced Nanny/Early Childhood Educator, looking after a number of children (maximum 4 at a time), ranging in ages from 3 months up to 6 months, in Milton, Brisbane. This position is initially being offered on a 1 day per week basis, ideally Monday or Tuesday, with the potential to go to 2 days, commencing March 2017. 

You will be working from a place of business, but for a 'co-op' of busy and hard working parents who have banded together to create a space that will allow them to bring their kids to the workplace.

Your primary purpose will be to provide first class care to the children who will be on-site on any given day, with a focus on keeping them happy, safe and entertained. You will develop and implement appropriate developmental programs and learning experiences to engage each child in your care, based on their age and interests. 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating daily routines/learning activities for the children;
  • Interacting positively with the children and using appropriate techniques to guide their behaviour;
  • Meal preparation for all children (food to be provided);
  • Providing an update to parents at the end of each day on their child's routine that day; and
  • Changing nappies and/or assisting older children with toilet training, as required.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • A minimum of a Certificate IV in Early Childhood Studies;
  • At least 2-3 years previous experience working with children under the age of 4;
  • A Working with Children Blue Card;
  • Current First Aid Certificate and the ability to assess the environment to maintain safety; and
  • The ability to commit to a set working day each week.

Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS) is also highly desired. 

This role would be well suited to someone in their last year of study who has previous nannying experience and/or someone with previous experience in a Childcare Centre environment who is looking for a new opportunity, or the chance to supplement their existing income.
