About the Opportunity

The Village Retirement Group now has an opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team based in Fortitude Valley, on a full-time basis, commencing early 2017.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant and sitting within the Head Office Administration Team, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and journals  and maintaining associated administration functions. You will assist and support the Senior Accountant and other Finance team members in satisfying the needs of both internal and external customers and stakeholders such as suppliers and bankers.

Some of your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • All aspects of Accounts Payable, including data entry and reconciliation whilst adhering to statutory requirements e.g. GST;
  • Bank reconciliations, loan accounts, GST accounts, PAYG accounts and inter-company accounts, amongst others with a view to resolving issues as they arise;
  • Processing of fortnightly payroll and reporting requirements;
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management and financial accounts for the monthly board meetings of the villages; and
  • Credit Card processing and reconciliation.

About You

The Village Retirement Group is looking for candidates with previous experience in a similar role and a solid understanding of the payroll process, including interpreting awards, payment of super and setting up new starters for payments. Whilst tertiary or vocational qualifications are not essential, you must have the ability to learn quickly, work to multiple deadlines, and prioritise your own workload. 

The person occupying this position must be professional, with good analytic skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to handle a variety of routine and complex financial administrative tasks and financial processing responsibilities. 

Previous experience using MYOB Premium, Wage Easy or Navision would be highly regarded. In addition, any experience gained in a retirement village and/or property setting would be an advantage, however, is not mandatory to your success in this position.  

This role would be well suited to someone who has had experience running a small business and/or someone who has experience working across multiple entities. You will be a 'go-getter' with a positive attitude and the ability to work autonomously and efficiently.
