About the organisation

Crisis Accommodation Gove is a government funded, not-for-profit organisation that provides crisis accommodation and support services, specialist domestic violence counselling, education and training services to women and children escaping domestic and family violence.

Crisis Accommodation Gove's primary services include a women’s shelter, providing safe and secure crisis accommodation for women and children; specialist domestic violence counselling services; free and confidential services for women experiencing domestic violence; and domestic violence community education.

The 4 bedroom home can accommodate up to 16 women and children. It has 2 full-time staff (a Caseworker and a children's counsellor), as well as 5, casual, day and night staff, to operate the service and deliver support to their clients.

About the opportunity

Crisis Accommodation Gove is seeking applications from a passionate, dedicated individual to join their team as the crisis accommodation Shelter Manager.

In this highly rewarding and pivotal role, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the shelter to ensure it functions in an ethical, effective and efficient manner.

Your main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the provision of a range of high-quality support services to women and children who have experienced, or who are at risk of experiencing abuse;
  • Developing and maintaining a range of quality client services;
  • Developing policies and protocols to guide the work of the organisation;
  • Ensuring the accurate completion, execution and compliance of funding grant proposals and acquittals;
  • Overseeing the management of financial resources, budgets and assets; and
  • Providing Human Resource Management for organisation staff.

To be considered for this role you will hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and will have considerable experience working in a supervisory or management level position. You’ll have an extensive history of providing support to women and children who have experienced, or who are at risk of experiencing abuse and will be dedicated to the eradication of domestic violence, and the empowerment of women.

You’ll have a well-rounded set of management skills, including financial management, HR management, and organisational management skills. With fantastic communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to effortlessly lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team and effectively build strong relationships.

Candidates who are open to change, accepting of Aboriginal people, comfortable living in a remote environment and who are willing to learn the ways of the people will be best suited to this position.
