About the Opportunity

Briggs & Stratton has an exciting opportunity for a talented Supply Manager - Manufactured Goods to join their organisation in Moorebank, Sydney, NSW.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for all activities related to production planning and purchasing for manufactured goods, alongside scheduling production for any products being assembled, for the fulfilment of customer demand and ensuring inventory targets are met. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Preparing daily and long-term production schedules utilising MRP, sales forecasts/demand plan;
  • Developing delivery commitments by coordinating scheduling activities with production team to balance production capacity, productivity, and on-time delivery metrics;
  • Developing, publishing and maintaining master production schedule;
  • Driving continuous improvement within production planning and purchasing processes; and
  • Providing accurate and timely communication of production shortages or delays which could impact customer order fulfilment.
  • Responsible for Inventory Management as per agreed KPI’s
  • Responsible for managing master data in SAP (including creating and maintaining BOM’s)

To be considered for this role you'll be able to demonstrate operational leadership experience in a warehouse, supply chain or logistics environment, as well as solid experience base with ERP systems (SAP preferred). Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Operations Management or Business Management are a requirement of this role. Candidates with post graduate qualifications in APICS, CPIM, CRM or Logistics & Supply Chain Management will be viewed favourably. 

Although you alone will be managing the production planning element of this role, you will have a purchasing officer reporting to/assisting you in your purchasing duties.  As such, the ideal candidate will have experience managing a small team and the desire to help the purchasing officer develop their own skills in this role.

You'll have excellent planning and purchasing skills, and with a business acumen you will have the ability to develop, monitor and effectively manage budgets and financial records. Previous experience with, or an understanding of, manufacturing processes would be advantageous but it will be your analytical skills and ability to exercise judgement and make critical decisions that will set you apart. 

Briggs & Stratton is seeking a self-motivated individual with sharp negotiation skills and an ability to develop and manage excellent relationships with suppliers; therefore you will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to confidently liaise with staff and suppliers within Australia, China and the USA. 

Highly organised and with the flexibility to adapt to change, you will be capable of planning and working to tight deadlines. Self-motivated and target driven, you will also have strong problem-solving capabilities and excellent follow through on action items. Most of all, you will be bringing to this role the ability and desire to assist in driving this business to the next level.
