About the Organisation

The Nyangatjatjara Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) was established in 1993 with the goal of addressing the employment, educational and economic development needs of three closely related Aboriginal communities in the south-western area of the Northern Territory: Imanpa, Mutitjulu and Kaltukatjara (Docker River). Today, the NAC functions as a single entity with the sole role of education provision for Anangu people in the Central Australian region. The enterprise arm operates as its own separate body.

Nyangatjatjara College (NC) opened its doors for the first time on July 21st 1997. In the first five years of its life, the college grew from one building to multiple temporary buildings at four campuses based in the communities it serves.

NC provides secondary education across three remote communities, and primary education in one (Docker River). All of their students are Anangu and almost all speak Pitjantjatjara as their first language. As the only secondary education provider in the Northern Territory south of Alice Springs, they are constantly innovating and are the leaders in this space.
