About the Opportunity

Centacare NQ has an excellent opportunity for a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to join their team in Townsville on a full-time basis.

In this highly rewarding role, you will be providing Family Dispute Resolution, early intervention and prevention education, post- service support, community education and referral services in line with program guidelines.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertaking Family Dispute Resolution and case management with individuals and families;
  • Conducting assessments of clients and make appropriate referrals as necessary;
  • Contributing to planning, provision and evaluation of community education skills training and support, including post-service follow-up in accordance with program requirements;
  • Maintaining appropriate files and records, data entry for case management database and complete other required documentation within agency guidelines; and
  • Representing and promoting Centacare and the Family Relationship Centre in the wider community by engaging in and developing strong networks and partnerships.

To be successful in this position you will hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, law or social sciences and membership (or eligibility for membership) with a relevant professional association. A Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training is desirable, but not mandatory.  

You will have previous experience in family mediation, dispute resolution, conflict resolution and child-focused practices and the ability to articulate the process of family mediation. Ideally, you will also have experience in group work and community education and training and/or indigenous services and outreach services. 

Centacare NQ is looking for candidates who have the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a broad based range of service providers and culturally diverse clientele, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people. Your skills in written and verbal communication, including your ability to write clear and concise reports for a range of audiences, will be highly developed, and you will have the ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team environment.

You will be required to hold a current C class driver's licence, and be willing to obtain a Positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card and a Yellow Card exemption).
