About the Opportunities
Aged Care Support Workers are required throughout the Tweed Valley area and surrounding villages.
There are casual positions available, that may lead to permanent part-time positions across a range of shifts including daytime, evening, night/sleepover and weekend. Positions are also available in the Richmond Valley Area (Lismore, Ballina, Evens Head and surrounding villages), however candidates who can work throughout the Tweed Valley area will be highly regarded.
You will provide specialised support to people in aged care and disability services, including providing clients with flexible opportunities to enhance their independence and facilitating community participation.
More specifically, some of your key duties and responsibilities will be to:
- Advocate on issues in relation to older people and promote community awareness of their achievements;
- Liaise with other St Carthage's services and external service providers;
- Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality;
- Participate in realising client dreams and aspirations; and
- Provide client supervision and/or assistance in accordance with client wishes and funding guidelines including, but not limited to personal care domestic assistance and social support.
St Carthage's is seeking candidates with a Certificate III in Aged Care coupled with a self-motivated attitude, well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and flexibility in both team and individual tasks.
Your understanding of Work Health and Safety, manual handling requirements and food handling procedures is important. You will have the ability to work autonomously and effectively with clients and the families of clients with complex needs.
You will also need a current Drivers Licence, a reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance as well as a current First Aid Certificate.
This role is subject to a Criminal Record Check prior to employment. The successful candidate must be available to work rostered shifts and respond to call outs when required.
