About the Opportunity

The Parenting Research Centre (PRC) has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Consultant to join its talented and dedicated team based in Melbourne. This is an FTE 0.6 - 0.8 with true flexibility to work a range of hours over 3-5 days. This is a fixed term maternity leave replacement role available for approximately 18 months.

Reporting to the Director, Operations, you will plan, coordinate and manage all facets of the employee lifecycle in accordance with the Centre’s key strategic directions relating to employee relations, engagement, workforce planning, staff recruitment and development. 

Some of your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Providing interpretation and advice on employment legislation, policies and procedures and ensuring legislative compliance and governance in regards to HR;
  • Leading the annual employee engagement survey and working with the Leadership Team to develop and deliver on the action plan;
  • Coordinating the remuneration strategy for all areas of the organisation and work with the Leadership Team to ensure appropriate communication of salary changes;
  • Coaching managers on issues regarding underperformance and disciplinary policies and procedures; and
  • Developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures in line with legislative and quality requirements.

The successful applicant will be an HR generalist, with a minimum Bachelor level degree in Human Resources, or related tertiary qualifications combined with extensive HR experience. You'll understand the structure of different HR strategies and systems, and have a comprehensive understanding of HR related legislation, award interpretation and best practice HR knowledge. Your experience in a similar role will be the key to your success, with knowledge of the not-for-profit industry viewed as highly advantageous.

You'll be working with a multidisciplinary team, so you'll require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to enable you to develop effective working relationships with all staff, as well as with external stakeholders. This role will suit an analytical, strategic and highly organised person, who can adapt their knowledge to new situations, and is looking to work with an organisation that makes a real difference.

Furthermore, you'll need to be adaptable and forward-thinking and possess an ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.

The successful applicant must obtain a current National Police Check before commencing with PRC.
