The Australian Nursing & Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) helps protect the health and safety of the Australian community by establishing high-quality standards of nursing and midwifery education, training and assessment.

ANMAC’s Skilled Migration Services assesses the skills of nurses and midwives who want to migrate to Australia under the General Skilled Migration program and determine if an applicant has the nursing or midwifery qualifications and experience needed for permanent migration to Australia.

ANMAC is the independent assessing authority authorised by law to conduct these assessments by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and Department of Education and Training.

About the Opportunity

ANMAC have an opportunity for a full-time Assessor - Skilled Migration Services to join their hard working team in Canberra.

Reporting to the Manager, Skilled Migration Services and the Business Manager, you will contribute to the operations of ANMAC by undertaking skills assessments for international nurses and midwives seeking to move to Australia under the General Skilled Migration program.

Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Assessing qualifications of those applying for skills assessments for migration purposes;
  • Liaising with applicants, migration agents and stakeholders regarding progress of applications and skills assessments;
  • Maintaining detailed awareness of qualifications required for international nurses and midwives to register for practice in Australia;
  • Providing administrative assistance to Skilled Migration Services, including handling incoming and outgoing correspondence/inquiries and records management; and
  • Supporting the review and implementation of new operational processes and guidelines.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of a Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent certification with a focus on administration/ clerical skills. Additionally, it is highly desirable that candidates have administrative duties experience in a health-related organisation.

Drawing on your patience and understanding for working with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds, you will ensure that all customers (internal and external) receive quality service and support. This will enable you to accurately and efficiently guide nurses and midwives through the assessment process.

You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, be an excellent multi-tasker and have the ability to work both independently and as a team.

Demonstrated experience in both administration and customer service, are vital to your success in this role. You will have the demonstrated capability to use a range of computer-based applications, search engines and data management systems.
