About the Opportunity

Knauf Australia now has exciting opportunities for Production Leading Hands to join their new facility in Bundaberg, QLD, on a full-time basis. Shifts will initially be 8 hours, with the possibility of increasing to 12 hour shifts in the future, when the plant becomes fully operational.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this is the most advanced role within the Shift Production Operator Teams and has two major areas of responsibility:

1. Leadership responsibilities:

  • Ensuring production practices comply with OHSE, Quality, Site and Knauf policies at all times;
  • Supporting the Production Supervisor and acting as 2IC when the Supervisor is not available;
  • Leading by example improvement activities, as well as the development and maintenance of standard production processes.

2. Technical responsibilities:

  • Developing a complete set of production skills enabling you to operate all Production equipment;
  • Using these skills to become a technical reference for your fellow Production Operators;
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the chemical process and quality control points which occur during the production process.

You will undergo robust training and have extensive support in achieving the above. It is expected that you are a quick learner with the ability to acquire the above technical skills through training.

Who is Knauf Looking For?

Knauf is looking for candidates with a mechanical mindset and trades / engineering aptitude, with a background working within a complex and fast-paced processing environment. Experience in a Leading Hand role is NOT essential for your success - what matters most are your organisational skills, attention to detail and winning attitude.

This role requires a superior communicator, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with other employees. Due to the nature of the role, you'll be flexible in your approach to work and know when leadership or teamwork is needed. Importantly, you'll take pride in your work and ensure everything is done to the best of your ability.

Although not essential, a forklift license would be highly regarded, as would an understanding of modern manufacturing principles.

Finally, you will demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to health and safety practices.

About the Benefits

Knauf is made up of a diverse mix of talented people working together to attain a shared goal. Their employees are skilled, experienced and have a strong desire to succeed, all sharing the same energy and entrepreneurial spirit. As such, they are always on the lookout for talent from all sectors of the community who can bring unique ideas, skills, qualifications and backgrounds to their organisation.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an competitive hourly rate. You'll enjoy the challenges and responsibilities that come from this advanced production role, whilst still having a great leadership support structure in place.

Additionally, you'll benefit from being part of a global organisation that can provide opportunities for on-going training and career development, that you may not have within other organisations. There will also be opportunities to advance your career within the Bundaberg plant itself, as this new facility continues to grow.
