The Opportunity

Our client, an established Council, now has a unique opportunity for an Engineering Manager - Operational Delivery to join their team on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Engineering Strategy Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of Council works, managing operational functions, and overseeing administrative functions associated with engineering operations.

More specifically, your key duties will include:

  • Managing the delivery of capital and maintenance works;
  • Acting as a vital link between the Council’s Executive Team and operational staff;
  • Providing engineering oversight of the progress and delivery of works, including managing Team Leaders and assisting the Engineering Strategy Manager with monitoring capital and maintenance expenditure against budgeted allocations;
  • Implementing and monitoring the quality of works undertaken; and
  • Working collaboratively with the Engineering Strategy Manager and Engineering Team to deliver the Operational Plan and Delivery Program.

About You

Our client is on the lookout for candidates with tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, or similar, along with a demonstrated commitment to WH&S and Environmental Management Principles. Ideally you will be proficient in the use of CAD programs (i.e. CivilCAD and AutoCAD) and have experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.

As you will be overseeing Engineering team members, it's crucial you be an effective and inspiring manager who leads by example. You'll have well developed people management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, as well as a keen eye for detail and the ability to remain organised while juggling a multitude of tasks. A clear communicator, both verbally and in writing, you'll have a demonstrated ability to liaise with all internal and external stakeholders. Due to the nature of the role, any experience in undertaking community consultation or managing public enquiries would be beneficial, however is not a necessity.

Although not essential, any of the following qualifications will be highly regarded:

  • White Card
  • Traffic Management Planning
  • OH&S for Supervisors
