THE OPPORTUNITY

STEPS has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Consultant (Mental Health) to work in the outer northern suburbs of Brisbane on a full time basis.

This position is primarily responsible for assisting individuals with mental health issues to secure and maintain sustainable employment in the open labour market.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with each job seeker to understand their strengths and employment preferences;
  • Planning, scheduling and conducting activities with job seekers to meet customer service expectations, compliance requirements and key performance indicators;
  • Identifying and providing flexible assistance to address vocational and non-vocational barriers to support the job seeker to maintain sustainable employment;
  • Conducting reverse marketing activities to secure employment opportunities for job seekers in accordance with their job preference;
  • Providing appropriate post placement and/or on-going support to meet the needs of employers and support the job seeker; and
  • Achieving individual performance goals and contributing to overall effectiveness of the Disability Employment Service programs.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled communicator, with the ability to liaise and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. A certificate level qualification in Mental Health Services, Employment, Community Services or similar is desirable and previous experience working with people with mental health issues will be highly regarded.

Candidates with experience in understanding the needs of employers, job duties and required skills will do well in this role. This role would be well suited to a HR recruitment specialist looking for an opportunity to make a real, rewarding difference within an NFP organisation.
