The Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a not-for-profit leader in the provision of primary health care and community welfare services.

RivMed aims to provide services which reflect the growing need of Aboriginal people to have access to primary health care and community welfare services.

These include preventative health care programs and the core programs also reflect the need to continue to address the inequality in health outcomes that persist. Those core programs include medical services, and family health, drug and alcohol counselling and advocacy support.

Services in support of Aboriginal families include those provided by the Family Health Team, Intensive Family Based Services, Out of Home Care and the Family Functional Therapy-Child Welfare and Social & Emotional Wellbeing teams.

About the Opportunity

RivMed has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager - Family Services (Aboriginal Identified) to oversee the Family Health Services programs based in Wagga Wagga, NSW on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this rewarding role requires you to provide high-level strategic and operational leadership for the Family Health Services programs including the Family Health Team, Intensive Family Based Services, Out of Home Care, and Family Functional Therapy-Child Welfare teams.

More specifically, your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Working as part of the Senior Management Team to improve operational systems, policies, and processes;
  • Providing mentoring and professional development to Team Leaders to build their skills and capacity to develop and effectively lead their teams;
  • Leading the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Family Services Programs to meet RivMed's strategic goals and contractual obligations;
  • Assisting the CEO and Finance Manager with the development of budgets for Family Services programs; and
  • Supervising community needs assessments and other relevant research activities covering Family Services programs.

RivMed is seeking a committed and driven Manager (Aboriginal Identified*) with previous experience leading, motivating, and developing staff, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and demonstrated experience working in Aboriginal Health and/or Community Services.

To succeed in this position, you will have a tertiary qualification in community services, social work, relevant health discipline, or equivalent. Candidates with previous experience leading a multi-disciplinary team will be highly regarded. Candidates will be required to undertake some travel within the state.

You will also have a strong understanding of contemporary and historical issues impacting Aboriginal families and their children and of the relevant legislation and standards of child protection and child welfare.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of Aboriginal children and families and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders will be pivotal to your success in this role. Candidates with previous FACS experience and relevant NGO experience will also be highly regarded.
