About the Organisation

The Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RivMed) is a not-for-profit leader in the provision of primary health care services.

RivMed aims to provide services which reflect the growing need of Aboriginal people to have access to primary health care services. These include preventative health care programs such as dental services, screening programs and health education programs. The core programs also reflect the need to continue to address the inequality in health outcomes that continue. Those core programs include medical services, eye health and family health, drug and alcohol counselling and advocacy support.

About The Novel Interventions into Methamphetamine Usage in Young Aboriginal Communities (NIMAC) Program

The Novel Interventions to Address Methamphetamine Use in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities (NIMAC) program was developed in response to deep concern about the increasing use of methamphetamine in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The primary outcomes of the NIMAC project are to reduce methamphetamine use in Aboriginal communities, increase knowledge about the patterns and context of methamphetamine use, and to provide better support for users and their families. The NIMAC collaborators comprise leading Australian researchers in drug and alcohol research, and ten Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in urban, regional, and remote locations around Australia.
