About the Organisation

NRL Cowboys House, managed by the Cowboys Community Foundation - the charity arm of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys - is a joint initiative between the National Rugby League, North Queensland Cowboys, the Queensland, and Australian Government.

NRL Cowboys House provides supported accommodation for 50 young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young men from remote communities in north-west and far North Queensland. The aim of Cowboys House is to provide these young people with access to quality secondary education options in Townsville.

 

 

About the Opportunity

The Cowboys House now has an exciting and highly rewarding opportunity for an energetic, hands-on leader to take on the role of General Manager in Townsville, QLD.

You will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the house. You will also provide high-quality leadership to, and ensure the quality supervision and care of, the students of the house and manage a team of boarding supervisors and operational staff.

Reporting to the GM Community and the board of the Foundation, your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Being accountable for the provision of best practice in the quality of care, health, wellbeing and cultural support of the NRL Cowboys House Students;
  • Facilitating partnerships with external stakeholders to ensure quality student care, education and vocational pathways;
  • Being accountable for staff, facility, operational, and financial performance;
  • Working in partnership with the house Education Manager in ensuring educational outcomes and vocational pathways;
  • Ensuring NRL Cowboys House and its staff and students are creating and sustaining a values-driven culture;
  • Ensuring that strong linkages are developed and maintained with communities and families of the students; and
  • Ensuring compliance with the key performance indicators for the house and all relevant legislative regulations.

To be successful in this role, you will be a strong and engaging leader who is passionate about Indigenous young people and who takes ownership of both the performance of the facility and pride in its place within the community.

You will have demonstrated experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of strategic planning and delivering quality outcomes. This is a live-in role, as such, you will also need to have a strong understanding of best practice boarding care. This is not a clock on / clock off position.

You will have formal qualifications and experience in line with the requirements of this roleYou must have demonstrated experience in building and managing cohesive teams and the ability to adapt to different challenges on a day to day basis. 

Importantly, you will have demonstrated experience in working with young people. This requires candidates, to be honest, energetic, and accountable to themselves, staff, and students.
