To ensure the separation between commercial interests and government programs and services, the Nisga’a Nation created several Nisga’a corporations to fulfill specific needs. These businesses are managed through Nisga’a Pacific Ventures LP (NPVLP).

Wholly owned by the Nisga’a Nation and professionally managed by an independent Board of Directors, the NPVLP's mission is to improve and sustain the economic wealth and well-being of the Nisga’a Nation and its citizens. The NPVLP includes Nisga’a Fisheries Ltd, Lisims Forest Resources LLP, Lisims Backcountry Adventures Inc, and Lisims Communications LP. 

About the Opportunity

Nisga’a Pacific Ventures LP is currently seeking a full-time Chief Technology Officer to lead the Lisims Communications team in Gitlaxt'aamiks, British Columbia (also known as New Aiyansh).

As CTO, you will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for setting the technology strategy and direction for the business. With proven ability to design and develop scalable system architecture, you will oversee project planning and management to drive growth and support the needs of the business. You will also forecast and manage opex/capex budgets for IT services, engineering, and manufacturing technology initiatives. 

As a senior leader, you will mentor and support direct and indirect reports and be a champion for organizational culture. Collaborating with other business units at an executive level, you will also demonstrate a sound knowledge of product ownership and stakeholder communication responsibilities.  

 Key accountabilities include: 

  • Ensuring the smooth day-to-day technical operations of the company’s manufacturing, logistics, and customer service functions
  • Using technology to support and improve customer acquisition and retention in collaboration with the marketing and product teams
  • Building recruitment pipelines, retaining talent and succession planning for the technology team
  • Maintaining competitive advantage through the development of proprietary intellectual property assets
  • Driving business unit efficiency and profitability through internal IT systems and software development
  • Demonstrating leadership and establishing trust between the business units
  • Contributing to, and supporting, the debt/equity finance strategy 

For this role, we are seeking someone with a broad range of skills and experience working in senior-levels roles across software engineering, DevOps, systems administration, network engineering, manufacturing automation, process engineering, systems integration, logistics, digital marketing and/or product management.

In addition, the successful candidate will also demonstrate: 

  • The ability to be hands-on while maintaining a high-level vision and strategy
  • Strong team lead and people management skills
  • Significant business intelligence and demonstrated success
  • Thorough understanding of business reporting, KPIs/metrics, and general accounting principles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and budgets
  • The ability to work independently without support from other business units
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels, from board/executive to the front line
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel, when required
