About the Opportunity

The Parenting Research Centre (PRC) is now looking for a full-time Strategic Communications Manager to join their team, based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Team in planning and delivering communications activity that builds the organisation’s reputation and influence. 

Additionally, you'll advise on broad communications strategies (related to strategic priorities) and oversee the Centre’s appropriate use of media relations, branding, stakeholder engagement, events, digital & social media and other tactics.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Overseeing marketing and communications activity for the Raising Children Network (raisingchildren.net.au), excluding digital and social media;
  • Overseeing and helping deliver communications plans and products to support key projects;
  • Developing and managing the Centre’s annual strategic communications plan;
  • Recommending and delivering communications activities that support the organisation’s business development work;
  • Providing communications counsel as required by the leaders and project managers;
  • Managing B2B digital channels to engage with policymakers and key organisational leaders; and
  • Manage all PRC and Raising Children Network media engagement (both proactive and reactive).

About You

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Marketing and/or communication, or equivalent, and have demonstrated leadership experience, developing and delivering strategic communications activities to enhance reputation, as well as collaborating to build support for new communications initiatives.

A strong knowledge and experience in utilising a range of communications channels (both traditional and digital) is essential, as well as conceptual, analytical, research and project management skills, with proven experience in successfully managing communications staff and working in a matrix structure. You will also have demonstrated experience in selecting and managing relevant suppliers (e.g. visual design agencies).

The Parenting Research Centre (PRC) are looking for candidates with exceptional written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a collegial, mutually supportive organisational environment.
