Nganampa Health Council has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Correspondence and Records Officer to join their team in Alice Springs, NT. This is a part-time role, where you will be required to work up to 22.8 hours across a 5 day working week, with flexibility as to how those hours are distributed.

Reporting to both the Communicare Manager and Health Services Manager, you will be responsible for receiving and managing a broad range of medical correspondence from Nganampa Health Council's remote area clinics. 

More specifically, some of your key duties will include:

  • Receiving all incoming medical correspondence from external hospitals and agencies;
  • Receiving internally-generated medical information including ECG reports and pathology reports, etc.;
  • Checking documents for duplicates, and then scanning into the Communicare Clinical Information System;
  • Liaising with medical and program staff within the organisation around document management; and
  • Assisting with patient enrolments to the Indigenous Health Incentive Program.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised and process driven administration professional, with the ability to work to strict timeframes, ideally with a background in health care and a familiarity with relevant terminology.

A high attention to detail and a strong computer literacy will be key attributes to your success, as will your ability to work both autonomously and with limited supervision. Further to this, you will understand the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.

While not essential, candidates with previous experience using Clinical Information Systems, in particular the Communicare Clinical Information System, will be highly regarded.

Candidates who are open to change, accepting of and interested in engaging with Aboriginal people, will be well suited to this position. Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities in a remote setting will be highly advantageous.

To be considered, you must be willing to undergo a Police Check prior to commencing employment.

  • Base salary of $65,000 - $73,000 depending on experience;
