About the Opportunity

St. George’s School is actively seeking Custodians to join our team in Vancouver on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Custodial Night Supervisor and the Head of Buildings, you will clean and maintain the general upkeep of the School facilities. 

Key areas of responsibility include: 

  • Being an effective member of a cohesive team of maintenance and custodial professionals
  • Adhering to guidelines and policies relating to maintenance and custodial use and management
  • General garbage pickup
  • Assisting with office relocations as required
  • Assisting with the setup for both internal and external functions (i.e. meetings, receptions, annual Fair, etc)
  • Adhering to Works Safe BC standards
  • Helping support the maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Other duties as required within the maintenance team

Most importantly, you will consistently reflect and emulate the School's six core values: empathy, humility, integrity, respect, resilience, responsibility. 

Our ideal candidate will have successfully completed a Building Service Worker certification and will have worked in either an academic environment or a hospitality industry (i.e. hotel).

In addition, you will also demonstrate: 

  • The ability to operate heavy machinery (i.e. floor polishers, etc.)
  • Some knowledge of WHMIS practices
  • A high level of physical energy
  • The ability to multi-task and to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills, mechanical aptitude, and demonstrated professionalism
  • A commitment to an independent school work environment

You will be a great fit for our team if you are a positive and energetic team player with lots of initiative. Self-aware and self-motivated, you can high have attention to detail and work well under pressure. A valid Class 5 or higher BC Driver’s License is a requirement for this role.
