About the Opportunities
Broken Hill City Council has exciting opportunities for Building Surveyors to join their professional team. There are several positions available for both experienced Surveyors/Planners and graduates. Graduates can expect to be provided with a supportive environment and mentoring as they learn and practice all aspects of the role.
The primary aim of the roles is to utilise your surveying and / or town planning skills to carry out duties and activities associated with building and development control within Council's area, thereby assisting in providing a quality built environment.
Some of the more specific duties will include:
- Conducting building and development inspections and investigations on building matters in Broken Hill and surrounding areas;
- Providing accurate assessments and approvals;
- Preparing reports and correspondence; and
- Maintaining necessary records.
The successful candidates will have an Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying, Town Planning or a related discipline. You must demonstrate a calm and professional decision making ability, whilst also being able to carry out instructions and work to deadlines.
Council is seeking applicants with well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as experience using the Microsoft Office suite. Importantly, candidates must have excellent customer service skills, and a current driver's licence.
