1st Glass is a leading manufacturer in the glass industry, supplying a wide range of toughened, annealed, laminated and mirrored glass products to the Queensland market since February, 2010.

As a boutique custom toughening and processing facility, 1st Glass provides a range of services including water jet cutting, polishing, painted glass, sandblasting and Nano Coast glass treatments. 

About the Opportunity

1st Glass has an opportunity for an experienced and motivated candidate to join their team in Hemmant, Brisbane, as a Glass Process Worker (Machine Operator) on a full-time basis working Monday - Thursday shifts from 6am to 3pm and Friday shifts from 6am - 12pm. The successful candidate must also be willing and available to work overtime during busy periods.

Reporting to the Factory Manager, this role will see you working from the warehouse, operating a variety of glass processing and laminating machinery to manufacture complex custom glass panels.

This role would be well suited to candidates with a manufacturing/warehousing background, and any experience in machine operations and glass handling would be a distinct advantage. However, all training will be provided, including specialist training in 1st Glass machinery software systems (please note, basic computer literacy will be required).

Experience with any or all of the following machinery would be advantageous, although it is not a mandatory requirement for this role:

  • Straight-line edger machines (Bavelloni);
  • Automatic cutting table (Bavelloni);
  • Water Jet cutting machine (Jet stream) requires CAD;
  • CNC (Intermac) requires CAD; and
  • Roller hearth toughening machine (Yungtong).

This is a physical role, so you will also need to be physically capable of lifting reasonably heavy loads. Candidates with a Certificate lll in Glass and Glazing will also be held in high regard, though is not essential for this role.
