About the Organisation

Brisbane North PHN supports clinicians and communities in Brisbane’s northern suburbs, Moreton Bay Regional Council and parts of Somerset Regional Council. It covers approximately 4,100 km2 of urban, regional and rural areas, with a population of over 900,000. 

Its key objectives are:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes; and 
  • Improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time. 

About the Opportunity 

A unique opportunity has become available for a Deputy Chief Executive Officer, to join Brisbane North PHN working from their Lutwyche and North Lakes offices. As Deputy CEO, you will work in close collaboration with the CEO to lead and manage the organisation in line with the strategic direction, as agreed by the Board of Directors. 

Some of the key responsibilities this role will include:

  • Providing leadership to the organisation in support of the CEO, including fulfilling the role of acting chief executive in the CEO’s absence;
  • In collaboration with the CEO and Board, identifying and influencing the formation of government and other policies, whether existing or new, in line with community needs;
  • Taking a lead on key external stakeholder engagement and partnership building, particularly with the Metro North HHS, Childrens’ Health Queensland HHS and general practitioners; and
  • As part of the Executive team, developing and implementing the organisation’s strategic plan and internal operational planning processes, contributing toward the achievement of the plan and organisational vision.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive senior executive with experience in the health and/ or social services sector to directly contribute to building a more responsive health care system in Brisbane North.

Experience required

The successful candidate will have significant experience at a senior management level within the health care industry, including high level strategic thinking and planning skills and experience working with a Board of Directors, coupled with qualifications from a relevant field. 

Brisbane North PHN is seeking applications from proven leaders with a commitment to improving health care outcomes in the community. You will have a track record in organisational capability building and in leading and managing high performing teams, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and influence at a senior level.

Candidates must have the demonstrated ability to network and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your knowledge and/ or proven experience in the development and evaluation of strategy, policy and programs in a health service environment, will be pivotal to your success.

A current driver's licence and use of a personal vehicle may be required to complete the duties of this position, with work-related mileage reimbursed.
