About the Riverland Region

Loxton resides in the Riverland region of South Australia, lying adjacent to the Murray River. It sits close to the Victorian border, and the main point of access is via the Sturt Highway, running directly to Mildura (the closest large city). Agriculture is the primary industry of the area.

The Riverland is a wonderful place to discover, whatever your hobbies might be! Explore the Murray River, trek the national parks, play a round of golf, or spend the afternoon fishing. For those who love food and wine, Riverland is home to some of the most fabulous wineries in the southern hemisphere, including Berri Estates, and the area delivers some great produce to surrounding restaurants and cafes.

About the Opportunity

Due to continuing growth within the business, Fruit Doctors now has an exciting opportunity for an Agronomist to join their team in Loxton, SA, on a full-time basis. In this role you will be primarily responsible for visiting farms within the Riverland and Sunraysia regions, conducting surveys on the quality of the crops and the levels of pests and/or diseases, and making recommendations to the clients regarding actions to be taken moving forward.

To be successful in this role, you will have qualifications in Agriculture or a related field. Ideally, you will have previous experience as an Agronomist, however recent graduates who are motivated to begin a career in Agriculture will also be considered.

As this is predominantly an outdoors job, you must be willing to work in all conditions and be moderately fit. You will also be spending time on the road visiting clients and as such a current Driver’s License will be required.

Fruit Doctors are looking for someone who can bring an innovative spirit and great energy to the role, who values working collaboratively within a team environment. This position will be well suited to someone who is methodical and scientifically minded, with good client-facing communication skills and the ability to self-manage their workload.

Ideally, you will come from a rural background with an understanding of farming practices, however this is not compulsory for your success in this role.  Most importantly, you will work with honesty and integrity to uphold the Fruit Doctors name in the marketplace.

About the Benefits

For your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a salary circa $50,000 - $80,000 negotiable based on skills and experience. A vehicle and phone for private use are future additional benefits once proficiency in the role has been demonstrated.

On-the-job training will be provided, and you will be working as rotating pairs, with inexperienced employees teamed with seasoned staff – this presents a unique opportunity to get some one-on-one mentoring and drive your skills forward.

Genuine career progression opportunities are also available, with the right candidate having the chance to join the Leadership Group – a small team formed for the purpose of directing the business and initiating change.
