About the Opportunity

Nunkuwarrin Yunti is seeking a Senior Project Officer, on a short-term basis, to be responsible for high level coordination of a specialised and complex project, focused on supporting establishment of the Australian Nurse-Family Partnership Program (ANFPP) in the Aboriginal community in western and northern areas of metropolitan Adelaide and integrating the ANFPP into the Organisation’s operations and long term goals.

The Australian Nurse-Family Partnership Program (ANFPP) is a licensed adaptation of the Nurse–Family Partnership model developed by Professor David Olds at the University of Colorado, USA. It is an evidence-based program of sustained and scheduled home visiting by Nurse Home Visitors (NHVs) and Aboriginal Family Partnership Workers (AFPWs) for Aboriginal families. The Program begins during the antenatal period and continues until the child is two years old. The program supports voluntary clients to improve their personal health and wellbeing, environmental health, increase their self-efficacy, and improve the health and development of their children.

The Program is located in Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s Women Children and Family Health Unit based at Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s Mile End site, and will be providing support to women and families who live within the catchment areas of Playford, Port Adelaide and Enfield (Adelaide Metro) including the two maternity hospitals (Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Lyell McEwin Hospital).

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Developing a detailed Project Management Plan based on required outputs of the Project;
  • Providing advice on policy matters and contribute to their development;
  • Establishing key ANFPP operational work procedures and practices in line with Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s policy framework and Clinical and Practice Governance systems
  • Ensuring ANFPP procedures and processes comply with the ANFPP model, including Program adaptation for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Adelaide
  • Completing an environmental scan and develop the program’s Community Engagement and Stakeholder Engagement strategies
  • Supporting early community engagement activity inclusive of  development of a network of Program champions and sponsors;
  • Developing and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders and strategic partners including key Aboriginal agencies; and
  • Promoting and present a positive image of Nunkuwarrin Yunti to other staff, clients and the community in general.

To be successful, you will hold a Diploma or Degree, or less formal qualification, with substantial experience to sufficiently perform the role at this level.

Nunkuwarrin Yunti are looking for candidates with experience in project management or significant experience within a project-team environment and change management environment, and the ability to develop program specific policy, protocols and processes within a finite time whilst maintaining program fidelity. Knowledge of WHS legislation and principles will also be essential.

You will have some knowledge and understanding of issues which may impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander maternal child and family wellbeing, and the ability to effectively communicate to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in a culturally sensitive manner will ensure your success in this position.  While not essential, understanding of Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal social/health issues and extensive experience working with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities, along with experience in structured outcomes-focused service models will be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines, as well as experience working as part of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills, including public presentation, relationship management and consultation are essential.

Please note: It is a requirement of this role that the successful candidate has a current driver’s licence, and is willing to undergo a National Police Check prior to employment with Nunkuwarrin Yunti.
