About Maari Ma Health

Maari Ma Health is an Aboriginal community controlled health service providing a quality service to the Aboriginal people of far western NSW. Led and governed by an Aboriginal Board of Directors, Maari Ma has been providing health care for almost 20 years and employs over 120 people within the region.

Maari Ma has a Regional Primary Health Care Service with a multidisciplinary general practice in Broken Hill and delivers services and programs collaboratively with local health service staff in communities within the far-west region of New South Wales (Wilcannia, Menindee and Ivanhoe). Their service approaches are grounded in the Aboriginal concept of health which takes a holistic view incorporating the physical, social, emotional and cultural well-being of individuals, their families and their communities.

Your new career awaits!

Maari Ma now has 2 x opportunities for Registered Nurses to join their team at Broken Hill. These are full-time positions working Monday to Friday with no night shifts and minimal weekends.

Reporting to the Manager, Clinic and Community, as a Practice Nurse you will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in a wide variety of treatments and care activities using a patient-centred approach. These include care planning and coordination, health assessments, wound care, chronic disease care, vaccinations, procedural operations and triage.

To be successful in this position you will have AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with at least 12 months post-graduate experience. Ideally you will also have (or be willing to obtain), authorisation as an immunisation provider in New South Wales.

Working with predominately Aboriginal clients, it is critical that you have the ability to work with Aboriginal staff and communities in a way that fosters mutual respect. You will be approachable and empathetic and be comfortable working in a cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural environment, without passing judgement.

Previous experience working in a primary health care setting and/or working with Aboriginal people in a remote or rural setting, would be highly regarded, but is not mandatory. Importantly - if you are a motivated person with a willingness to learn and a genuine desire to work with Indigenous people in the community - we want to hear from you.
