About the Opportunity

Multicultural Care now has an exciting, newly created opportunity for an experienced Senior Human Resource Officer to join their dedicated team in Sydney, NSW on a permanent part-time basis. There is a possibility that this role will become a full-time subject to funding.

Working in collaboration with the CEO, you will be responsible for enhancing the organisation's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee requirements and relations, and developing and maintaining human resources policies, programs and practices.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Developing and implementing organisation policies, procedures and guidelines together with the interpretation of relevant Acts, Regulations, Awards, industrial agreements and relevant legislation to ensure the Multicultural Care workplace conditions satisfy legislative requirements;
  • Reviewing and updating organisation policies and procedures in line with contemporary HR management best practices;
  • Documenting, addressing, and monitoring HR issues that arise;
  • Constructing and executing offers of employment and contracts and managing this process;
  • Regularly reviewing and identifying updates for the training and development program;
  • Providing advice on HR issues to staff and ensuring effective communication with all staff to maintain an ethical and transparent working environment; and
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have HR experience at a senior management level, preferably within the Human Services sector (aged care etc.) and a well-developed knowledge of, and experience in, the application of contemporary HR procedures and practices.

An ability to interact proactively with management and staff in the resolution of HR issues is essential to this role. Additionally, you will have a good understanding - and ability to interpret - legislation, regulations, Awards, Industrial Agreements together with policies and procedures.

As you will be implementing a new computerised HR system, it is pivotal that the successful candidate has a working knowledge of online systems and well-developed computer literacy skills within an MS Office environment.

You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including interviewing, counselling, negotiation and report writing skills. 

While not essential, candidates a relevant tertiary qualification (or the progression towards one) and demonstrated competence in conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills will be highly regarded. Knowledge of job evaluation and classification review process will also be held in high regard.
