Community Restorative Centre - Changing Lives, Reducing Crime

Founded in 1951, Community Restorative Centre (CRC) is an independent community organisation with a broad funding base, dedicated to supporting people affected by the criminal justice system, particularly prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families and friends. CRC is the lead provider of specialist throughcare, post-release, and reintegration programs for people transitioning from prison into the community in NSW. All CRC programs aim to reduce crime and break entrenched cycles of disadvantage, offending and imprisonment.

About the Opportunity

Community Restorative Centre (CRC) is now seeking a Clinical Supervisor to join their team in Sydney, NSW. This role is being offered on a locum basis (30 hours per week) until October 2018, with excellent flexibility regarding days and hours - you choose whether to work 4 or 5 days!

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this critical role will oversee the clinical efficacy of all CRC casework teams, including the management and coordination of the clinical supervisory structures within the organisation. In addition, you will assist in the development and implementation of an evidence-based, best practice model for working with people with complex needs and criminal justice system involvement.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical group supervision to all CRC service delivery teams across the organisation, as well as one-on-one supervision when needed;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of new programs, in relation to how they may relate to clinical practice;
  • Staying abreast of research, clinical practice and best practice models of service delivery for people with complex needs and criminal justice involvement;
  • Evaluating and identifying gaps in CRC policies and procedures regarding clinical best practice;
  • Identifying training/learning gaps, and assisting with arranging internal/external training for team members; and
  • Making recommendations to the Management team regarding ways to improve clinical practice within the organisation, to ensure consistency across the organisation.

About You

CRC is on the lookout for candidates with tertiary qualifications in Counselling/Psychotherapy, Psychology or Social Work, coupled with experience in the delivery of clinical supervision within an organisational structure. Experience working with people with complex needs (including homelessness, cognitive impairment, mental illness, AOD, trauma, etc.) and knowledge of the needs and issues facing people involved in the criminal justice system will also be required.

Due to the nature of the role, experience in the delivery of capacity building programs for staff will be essential, as will a demonstrated understanding of the socio-political nature of crime, and how this translates in clinical supervision. In addition, you will have a demonstrated understanding of issues related to Indigenous and CALD people.

Although not essential, experience in the community sector and/or in the delivery of supervision via alternative modes (e.g. Skype) would be beneficial. A Cert IV in Training and Assessment and/or experience in delivering relevant training will also be highly regarded. In addition, experience in trauma informed and/or Narrative Therapy will be highly regarded.

Please Note: A current Driver’s License is required before commencing this position. You must also be willing to partake in travel to regional sites in New South Wales.
