A leading edge career opportunity

Life Without Barriers now has a Supervisory opportunity for a Senior Psychologist or Social Worker, leading their MST-CAN team based in Tamworth, NSW, on a full-time basis. This is a Monday to Friday position, however you will be required to be on-call 24/7 to support Therapists if and as required. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager your primary purpose will be to manage and support a team to conduct therapy and case management associated with Multi-Systemic Therapy (Child Abuse and Neglect). You will ensure that the program is compliant to the funding requirements and that all reporting is undertaken in line with the program outlines. 

Day-to-day this will include:

  • Conducting weekly group supervision for the MST-CAN team to assure adherence to MST principles and the MST analytic process;
  • Conducting individual supervision as needed to target clinician competency needs and to remove individual barriers to effective implementation of MST-CAN treatment;
  • Providing supportive and corrective feedback to clinicians to promote client outcomes through interventions such as enacting role play and practice, attending field visits with therapists, acting as co-therapist in sessions and listening to audio tapes of clinician's sessions; and
  • Managing matters relating to the recruitment, selection and induction of staff and managing the MST-CAN program budget.

Do you want to join our cause?

To be successful in this position you will have a Ph.D. or Master's Degree in clinical or counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related area and registration with the relevant professional organisation. MST-CAN experience is highly regarded, but not mandatory. 

You will have a minimum of 5 years experience delivering family therapies, substance abuse interventions and/or behavioural therapies targeting behavioural change in children at home and school as well as previous experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Demonstrated knowledge and application of theory for Family Systems; Social Ecology and Pragmatic Family Therapies will be highly desirable.

  • On-call allowance of $13,000 per annum
