About the Opportunity
Mitcon Projects now has an opportunity for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of a 18,000m3 concrete structures package at the RAAF Base Tindal, Katherine, NT. This is a full-time position for an immediate start. Ideally the successful candidate would be based in Katherine or the NT, however Mitcon will also discuss contract and FIFO options for the right person.
This role, reporting to the Director, requires an individual who will ensure all project deliverables are met. Some requirements and responsibilities include delivering the concrete structures package for multiple buildings at the RAAF base which will include a new hangar, training facility and workshop for RAAF's new F-35A Joint Strike Fighter squadron. The package includes survey, detailed excavation, formwork, steel-fixing, concrete place and finish of upwards of 18,000 cubic metres of concrete.
In addition, proficient skills in communication and team management are necessary with the management responsibility over a large project team of 100+ employees. This includes a Site Managers, Supervisors, Engineers, Administration support, Formworkers, Concretors, Steel-Fixers, Operators and Labourers. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering the project on-time and within safety, cost, scheduling and quality requirements.
About You
To be considered for this position you will have:
- Significant experience delivering medium to large scale projects within the construction space;
- Experience with commercial/industrial concrete packages including formwork/reinforcement;
- Ability to manage a large project team including a number of subcontractors;
- Significant experience and competency in project financial management including cost control, cost forecasting and time deliverables. Including but not limited to preparation of progress claims, formulation/submission/negotiating variations etc.;
- Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or contract management (desirable but not mandatory); and
- Strong computer literacy with a focus on Microsoft Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, CostX or other relevant estimating software.
Mitcon Projects is looking for a proven Project Manager with well-honed leadership and communication skills who can quickly gain the trust and support of the team on the ground in order to drive commercial and operational outcomes. You will have strong proficiency in programming/scheduling, ensure all works carried out are compliant with relevant codes and standards and have a commitment to workplace health and safety.
Importantly, you will be comfortable living and/or working in a remote location.
