Otway Health is currently recruiting for registered nurses who hold a RIPERN qualification and or who are experienced in Emergency Nursing.
Situated in picturesque Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Otway Health is a 25-bed hospital which provides Emergency, Acute and Aged Care services to a very vibrant coastal community.
Otway Health has a full-time Emergency Nurse Practitioner to support the nursing staff during the week and Medical or Nurse Practitioner coverage on weekends. We also are committed to staff education and have a philosophy of creating a learning environment.
About the Role
As a senior member of staff you will be working with a dynamic team of nurses who are helping steer rural health into the future and to expand the services offered by Otway Health.
More specifically, some of your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Triage and assessment of emergency presentations, initiation of emergency treatment and care;
- Liaising and collaborating with the medical staff and Nurse Practitioners;
- Co-ordinating of ambulance transfers and emergency retrievals;
- Providing clinical care to acute inpatients and the aged care residents;
- Leading a team of registered and enrolled nurses and personal care assistants;
- Mentoring junior staff in all areas of the hospital;
- Accepting responsibility and accountability for the clinical care of all patients and residents when on duty;
- Participating in accreditation portfolios and training and education sessions; and
- Providing accurate and comprehensive nursing documentation through electronic health records.

- Commitment to quality and best practice and work within the Victorian Health legislative framework;
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Comprehensive understanding of patient safety and scope of practice; and
- High level of compassion for patients and aged care residents.
Please note: Candidates will have AHPRA Registration and hold - or be willing to obtain - a police check and working with children card.
