About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, motivated individual to join our team as a Shipping Administrator at our Oliver location.

The Shipping Clerk works to receive and schedule shipping and freight operations, including developing a working knowledge of warehouse organization and creating proper and detailed shipping documentation.  S/he will work with the packinghouse team to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Looking through work orders to determine order picking activities and picking orders according to the specific instructions provided
  • Matching order information in order cards with information on picked items to ensure conformity
  • Maintaining shipping record files
  • Recording damaged or defective items and replacing them according to company policies
  • Comparing the amount and identification numbers of goods against orders
  • Ascertaining all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled and correlated to documents and are available with each shipment
  • Maintaining Shipping Visitors Log and forwarding completed pages to the Safety Officer for verification
  • Checking all drivers into the plant and conveying Safety Requirements
  • Ascertaining the quality and quantity of picked items and ensuring that they are safely delivered to the delivery pallet
  • Determining storage areas for incoming shipments and allocating appropriate space within the warehouse
  • Handling returns and exchanges by ensuring that reverse distribution processes are followed properly
  • Selecting the method of consignment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates

In addition to being a great communicator, extremely detailed orientated, and a team player, you will have a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience. A knowledge of shipping functions, experience within the fruit industry and/or a relevant post-secondary qualification would be considered an asset. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience are encouraged to apply. 

As our ideal candidate, you will have strong computer skills, demonstratable leadership skills and the ability to work well under pressure and calmly handle multiple changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate: 

  • Conflict resolution and team building skills
  • Willingness to learn and work to the best of your ability
  • Availability to work weekends when required during high production time
  • Willingness to work 9-10 hour shifts when required

This role will include some travel and as a result, a valid BC driver's license is required.
