About the Organisation

Lung Foundation Australia is a national, not-for-profit organisation based in Brisbane. Their vision is to ensure that lung health is a priority for all in Australia and to promote lung health by:

  • Educating the community in lung health and early detection of lung disease;
  • Reducing the burden of lung disease in the community through patient and carer support;
  • Influencing public policy, through advocacy across all levels of government; and
  • Raising funds for medical and scientific research.

The Lung Foundation Australia National Office employs about 21 professional/administrative staff, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers. 

About the Opportunity

Lung Foundation Australia now has two exciting opportunities for full-time Information & Support Coordinators to join their team in Milton, Brisbane. 

Reporting to the Information & Support Manager, both positions will be responsible for providing information, support and referral on the Information and support line, as well as managing and coordinating separate projects relevant to Lung Foundation programs.

More specifically, duties will include:

  • Providing general information and general support via free call service (this service does not provide medical advice or counselling);
  • Managing email enquires;
  • Sending disease specific information to patients/carers and health professionals; and
  • Referring callers to internal and external patient support groups, peer matching services, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, education webinars and seminars, Lung Cancer Support Nurse, and other community support organisations.

In addition to the shared responsibilities mentioned above, one role will focus on the coordination and delivery of Education Seminars across Australia, while the other will focus on providing support to the Rare Lung Disease program.

About You 

These roles will be well suited to a person returning to the workforce who has a broad range of skills, and also recent graduates who are looking for an opportunity to launch a successful career in the NFP and/or healthcare space!

Due to the nature of the roles, Lung Foundation Australia is looking for well-spoken and personable candidates who genuinely enjoy engaging with others. You'll maintain a strong focus on excellent customer service, with a great phone manner and strong interpersonal skills that ensure your ability to build relationships with people of a variety of backgrounds.

Prior experience in a health/NFP environment is not essential, however you will need strong organisational skills and an adaptable approach to your work; you'll be able to multitask and will enjoy working in a varied environment with diverse responsibilities. Although not essential, any copywriting and/or event management experience (including volunteer experience in this space!) will be highly regarded.

Importantly, you'll be willing to learn, and eager to grow your skills and experience. Your initiative and desire to embrace new things will ensure you develop a successful career with Lung Foundation Australia.
