About the Opportunity 

Methanex currently has an exciting opportunity for a Document Control Coordinator to join our team in Medicine Hat.

In this role, you will maintain primary responsibility for the document management processes within the technical department at the Medicine Hat site. You will ensure document control processes are followed, document deliverables meet Methanex standards, and both internal and external clients comply with as build and final project records requirements. 

You will oversee and coordinate the document-related activities of the engineering teams, project administration, and client document control group to ensure all engineering records are effectively managed within the Methanex document management system. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Ensuring the site’s controlled, hard copy piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) drawing sets are current, providing updated P&ID sets to controlled users, and ensuring the P&ID drawing database is updated
  • Providing document control including appropriately documented release and receipt of all drafting documents and drawings to both internal and external clients, including approved contract engineering resources
  • Ensuring equipment on site is appropriately entered into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – Maximo, reviewing entered data for errors or omissions, and update the data within the system as projects are completed
  • Ensuring new and revised equipment information is filed in the equipment management file system
  • Completing the conversion to a soft filing system for equipment management and closing the hard copy equipment management file system once obsolete
  • Maintaining the technical library, completing a gap analysis of missing documentation, and ensuring the technical library is functional and complete
  • Maintaining the technical databases for plant equipment, lining lists and drawings
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects related to document management and control

Our ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma in administrative office management or a related technical discipline, and previous experience maintaining document control processes for a technical or engineering department.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

You will have a strong working knowledge of data management systems and document control processes, the ability to understand engineering related documents including specification sheets and AutoCAD drawings, engineering workflows including change request and approval processes and the ability to understand engineering concepts including component tags, engineering record numbers, and hard and soft revisions.

You will also demonstrate the following competencies: 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and File Transfer Protocol, as well as familiarity with Maximo
