What you get to do!

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an HR Generalist with payroll processing experience to join our team in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

As a key member of the Human Resources team, you will play an active role in driving key Human Resources functions (approximately 60% of your time) and you will also be solely responsible for payroll processing (approximately 40% of your time).

More specifically, you will also be responsible for:

  • Managing our group benefits program, including the administration of all employee benefits changes (new hires, terms, rate changes, etc.), new hire benefits orientation and auditing of benefits invoices
  • Assisting in managing Workplace Safety & Insurance Board claims
  • Managing employee files (paper and electronic), preparing job letters, performance management, and performing other administrative tasks as requested
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all employee payroll, compensation, and benefit-related questions
  • Assisting department managers and supervisors with collective agreement interpretation and implementation
  • Assisting with recruitment, and facilitating onboarding for all staff, ensuring orientation and other types of training are conducted in a timely manner
  • Updating Job Descriptions and Competency Profiles for all salaried positions and creating new profiles when needed
  • Processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis using ADP Pay@Work & ADP People@Work (including full year-end processing) and acting as the key contact for ADP regarding any system set-up changes
  • Auditing the company’s remittances to WSIB, CRA, & EHT
  • Managing the time and attendance system, Enterprise 2.0, and acting as System Administrator
  • Preparing ad hoc reporting of payroll-related data while analyzing for trends/discrepancies

You will also partner with various teams to rollout various HR initiatives and/or communications (i.e. quarterly Town Hall meetings for staff) play an integral role in the development and implementation of HR functions and processes within the business.

What we need!

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a minimum of 2 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience combined with a minimum of 2 years of Human Resource Management experience. You must also have Advanced skills in Google applications and Microsoft Office.

The following are considered assets:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification
  • A CHRP designation, or working towards
  • Experience with ADP Pay@work & People@work or Workforce Now
  • Previous experience in a Union environment, interpreting collective agreements, participating in grievance meetings
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Enterprise 2.0 Time and Attendance

With a dedication to teamwork, you must have the ability to take initiative and proactively identify potential issues while playing an integral role within the organization.

You will also have the ability to demonstrate discretion in whether to resolve issues independently or take research/proposed solutions to senior management (if required).          

Above all, you must have excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills, along with superior attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills are crucial.
