About the Opportunities

Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton, now has two opportunities for primary school teachers to join their teaching community. The first is for a Year 1 teacher at St Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Emerald and the second is for a Year 2 teacher at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Clermont. Both positions are commencing at the beginning of the 2018 school year and are being offered on a full-time, 12 month contract basis with potential for extension if circumstances allow. 

Reporting to the Principal on all curriculum matters including the development and implementation of all work programmes, term planners, assessments and learning resources, you will teach children in line with Australian curriculum standards. 

Your daily duties will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Preparing daily lessons and long-term teaching programs in accordance with syllabuses and work programmes;
  • Teaching, through such means as formal lessons, discussions, practical activities, experiments, projects, assignments and excursions, taking into account the differences in individual students;
  • Setting tests, projects, assignments and homework, mark and correct these, and collate the results;
  • Evaluating and reporting on the progress of their students, and discuss individual performance and problems with students and parents;
  • Establish and maintain good working habits and discipline in classrooms and throughout the school;
  • Promoting positive behaviour choices; and
  • Participating in other activities in partnership with parents and the school community, including parent/teacher afternoons, committee meetings and any other designated event, as required.

The successful candidates will be tertiary qualified teachers with current registration with the QLD College of Teachers (or ability to obtain). Ideally you will have some post-graduate teaching experience, however recent graduates with a great attitude and willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.

Being a practicing Catholic is not mandatory, however the ability to respect and follow the Catholic ethos of the schools is a must.

Teachers who are positive and have the ability to build respectful relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community, that are looking for a tree-change would be ideal for these roles.
