About the Opportunity

VSA Group now has an exciting opportunity for a full-time WHS Manager to join their team in Melbourne's Western Suburbs.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this pivotal role will see you providing support and guidance to management and employees for the development, implementation and review of the Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality and Risk (WHSEQR) Management system.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Preparing and reviewing risk assessments for plant, equipment, processes and activities;
  • Training, coaching and mentoring operational staff in the area of WHSERQ as required;
  • Updating, maintaining and implementing WHSEQR policies and procedures;
  • Monitoring safety consultation activities to ensure compliance with WHS legal requirements;
  • Preparing WHSEQR requirements for tenders;
  • Assisting Managers and Supervisors to ensure compliance with WHS, Environmental, Quality, and Risk requirements, including any site licences and environmental testing requirements;
  • Overseeing employee injury management and rehabilitation; and
  • Conducting internal audits, actively participating in external audits and certification processes, and implementing action plans to enhance WHSEQR performance and compliance.

Please Note: This role requires frequent travel throughout regional Victoria and interstate.

About You

If you're a motivated individual who's ready to sink your teeth into a fast-paced, multifaceted management role, keep reading!

The successful candidate will hold formal qualifications in WHS (minimum Cert IV) as well as a Certificate in Workplace Training and Assessment. Significant experience with ISO (particularly ISO14001 and ISO9001) and Australian accreditation, ideally within the construction or manufacturing industry, is also required, as is a background within a similar WHS position - including previous exposure to WHSEQ Integrated Management Systems.

Your experience in a similar role will ensure your ability to multi-task, prioritise workflow and manage competing priorities to deadlines. High level report writing skills will be critical to your success in this role, as you must produce written reports at an executive level that are articulate, clear and fact-based.

Importantly,VSA Group is seeking a skilled communicator who is able to engage effectively with stakeholders of all levels - from blue collar workers to executive management. You'll be an approachable individual who welcomes interaction from staff members, while also ensuring you maintain high levels of delivery without distraction. Additionally, this role requires flexibility and adaptability regarding your work, as each day will be different.

Any experience within the manufacturing or road construction industries will be highly regarded, however is not essential.
