About Your New Role

Our Client now has a rewarding leadership opportunity for a Team Leader (Family Violence & Crisis) to join their team based in Melbourne, VIC on a 0.9 FTE fixed term 18-month contract basis. There is the opportunity for extension subject to funding.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing daily leadership, management, and coordination of the crisis response services to women and children in the western metro area experiencing family violence. You will also respond to L17 referrals from the police and hospitals and oversee the 24-hour call team. 

More specifically, some of your day-to-day duties may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Ensuring all family violence crisis case managers maintain accurate case files, triage and assessment documentation including case notes in a manner that will meet all auditing requirements of the organisation, DHHS standards and legislative obligations;
  • Regularly monitoring program targets for family violence crisis response;
  • Facilitating regular team meetings to support the development of the team and their ability to provide efficient and effective operational services;
  • Attending police training days and conduct regular visits to police stations to advise on appropriate and responsive services for women and children experiencing family violence;
  • Playing a leadership role in program, leadership and staff meetings and planning days; and
  • Leading by example and actively working to progress organisational continuous quality improvement and risk management frameworks.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will need to have demonstrated experience in family violence and strong leadership skills. Additionally, you will need to hold a tertiary qualification in social work or counselling. You will also need to be eligible for AASW membership or other related professional body.

As you will be dealing with women who are at a high risk of family violence, you will need to be a resilient individual with exceptional interpersonal skills.

This position will be ideal for a positive leader who thrives in a busy and high-pressure environment whilst being able to provide support to the crisis team.

Most importantly, you will be dedicated to improving the lives of the individuals who are suffering from family and domestic violence.

Please note: Candidates are required have a current driver's license, hold (or be willing to obtain) a criminal history check and working with children check. Due to VCAT Exemption No.H119/2017 - candidates must be female or identify as female to be eligible.
