About the role
Junee Shire Council now has an exciting management opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join their team on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Director of Community and Business, you’ll be responsible for providing development assessment, building surveying, and environmental health services and expertise to internal and external stakeholders in order to contribute to Council’s economic and population growth objectives.
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Providing in-house expertise to assist Council to facilitate the development of the built environment in a compliant and effective manner;
- Providing building inspections, assessments and certifications for private and public construction projects;
- Developing policies and procedures in relation to environmental health and construction regulations;
- Managing environmental health, including processing noise complaints and pollution complaints, animal control, reviewing illegal construction works and conducting health and safety inspections; and
- Providing comprehensive reporting on development assessments and building applications.
What you'll need to be successful
- Recognised tertiary qualifications preferably at the degree level in environmental health and building surveying or an associated discipline;
- Accreditation as a Building Surveyor (A3 minimum);
- Previous experience in a similar role;
- An analytical mind and the ability to add value to Council operations;
- Innovative and effective problem-solving skills; and
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Previous experience in a local government context and town planning qualifications would be held in high regard, however, are not essential.
