About the Organisation
The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is the peak professional organisation for rural medical education and training in Australia. It was established in 1997 in response to the need to more effectively address the major education, training, professional development and support issues that impinge on rural medical practice.
The College has around 2500 members, comprising Fellows, Registrars, Junior Doctors, practitioners and students who practice in regional, rural and remote communities throughout Australia.
The national headquarters is located at Level 4, 410 Queen Street, Brisbane, Queensland. There are more than 40 full and part time staff working in the national headquarters. The College also employs a small number of staff in other cities and towns throughout Australia.
The College’s core function is to determine and uphold the standards that define and govern competent unsupervised rural and remote medical practice.
About the Opportunity
The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) has an exciting opportunity for a Prevocational Training Manager to join their Brisbane CBD team.
Reporting to the ACRRM CEO, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of the college prevocational agenda.
This includes leading and supporting program teams, providing advice on the overall effectiveness of programs and their alignment with the College strategic goals and operational plans.
Some of your specific responsibilities will include:
- Leading strategic activity to ensure integration of ACRRM's prevocational initiatives within the rural medical training spectrum and wider sector;
- Managing the prevocational team to ensure the College meets its strategic, contractual and program deliverables;
- Providing direction and managerial support to Program Coordinators;
- Overseeing the development of engagement activities for the prevocational agenda;
- Representing and promoting ACRRM and its prevocational programs to government and other key stakeholders;
- Promoting and marketing ACRRM membership services to medical students and junior doctors;
- Overviewing the internal evaluation processes and reporting, as well as developing innovative responses to emerging issues;
- Liaising and negotiating with the Department of Health and Ageing and Medicare regarding policy development, contractual and ad hoc reporting requirements;
- Contributing to the achievement of ACRRM's strategic plan and business plan; and
- Maintaining a culture of continuous improvement in the delivery of services and quality of standards for the program and ACRRM.
To be successful in this role, you will require relevant academic qualifications and substantial experience in a senior program management role, along with a background in rural medicine, health education and postgraduate policy sectors or equivalent.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are vital, as is the ability to effectively lead and manage a project team. You will also need proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, and a strong commitment to excellent member service.
In this role, you will based at ACRRM's head office in Brisbane CBD, conveniently close to public transport, restaurants and shopping.
This position will see you working both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. You will play a significant role in shaping a National education and training system.
