Life Without Barriers now has an opportunity for a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker to join their team as a Therapist on a full-time basis, in Tamworth, NSW.

Reporting to the MST-CAN Supervisor your primary purpose will be to conduct therapy and case management associated with Multi-Systemic Therapy (Child Abuse and Neglect). You will provide in-home clinical services, negotiate therapeutic goals and use systemic resources to assist in meeting these goals. You will have a case load of approximately 4-5 families around Tamworth. 

More specifically, this will include, but not be limited to:

  • Conducting MST-CAN assessments including reviewing of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviours within the ecological context;
  • Engaging primary caregivers and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement;
  • Providing direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices; and
  • Maintaining clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with MST principles and the MST analytic process.

Do you want to join our cause?

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work or Psychology, with at least 3 years experience delivering interventions. However, if you don't have a Masters, but hold a Bachelors Degree in Clinical Social Work or Psychology and have extensive experience in family welfare; out of home care; cognitive behavioural therapy; the criminal justice system; substance abuse and/or delivering interventions, you will also be considered. Any prior experience in MST or MST-CAN delivery will be highly regarded, but is not mandatory. 

All candidates will need to either hold registration or be eligible for registration with the relevant professional organisation/s. In addition, you will be on a rotating on-call roster with 3 other Therapists and will need to be available to be on-call for one week per month. 

This position would be well-suited to an experienced Clinical Psychologist or similar who has a few years experience under their belt and are looking to join an organsation that is leading the charge on MST and MST-CAN delivery in Australia. Importantly, LWB is looking for candidates who are willing and able to offer home-based intervention services with confidence, professionalism and empathy.
