About the Organization
Created in 2008 and privately held, Harmac Pacific Pulp operates a Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill on the east coast of Vancouver Island near Nanaimo, BC. Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to two production lines and a capacity of 370,000 tonnes of world class pulp per year.
Key to the Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and have 2 members that they appoint to the company’s 6 seats on its Board of Directors.
The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements to productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, instillation has been complete of a 25 MW Green Energy turbo-generator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro.

About the Opportunity
Harmac has an exciting opportunity for a Steam Plant Shift Supervisor to join our 370,000 tonne per year pulp mill in Nanaimo, BC.
In this role, you will supervise shift operating crews which operate the plant’s Recovery and Power boilers along with Power Generation Turbines and Effluent Treatment plant.
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a 1st or 2nd Class Power Engineering qualification and significant experience working in heavy industry. You will also have strong interpersonal skills, a demonstrated track record of building a cooperative work environment, and the ability to manage change in the workplace.
