About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Web Developer to join our team in Edmonton for a one year contract. 

In this role, you will be working on the LOUIS Toolkit and Data Management and Mapping Program which Apropos Information Systems is working on in conjunction with The First Nations Technical Services Advisory Group (TSAG).

Responsibilities include: 

  • Reviewing and refining current UX/UI design
  • Developing new user interactive interfaces/dashboards
  • Collaborating in the development of a user-driven reporting framework
  • Attending user advisory group meetings with staff from partner communities

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or recognized technical certificate and a minimum of 2 years of software development experience with a minimum of 1 year of experience in UX/IU design. 

You will also possess:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of web development frameworks (Django or similar)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Javascript and CSS
  • Knowledge and competency developing interactive web interfaces

The following are assets, but not required:

  • Experience with database design (eg. PostgreSQL) 
  • Basic knowledge of GIS and mapping 
  • Knowledge and competency with Python, Bootstrap, JQuery, Leaflet, and D3.js 
  • Familiarity with Linux or similar Unix based Operating Systems 

Above all, you must have a solid written and spoken communication skills, strong attention to detail, and good interpersonal skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team is crucial.
