About Your New Role

Junee Shire Council has a brand new leadership opportunity for a Recreation Centre Coordinator to join their dedicated team at the Recreation and Aquatic Centre on a full-time basis in Junee, NSW.

Reporting to the Facilities and Community Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operational coordination of the centre, hands-on leadership of the team, and growing the business both through having a great offering and getting the word out via marketing and events.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing direction and guidance to casual and permanent staff;
  • Ensuring staff are engaged, active, and efficient team members;
  • Participating in the development of marketing and promotions (including researching industry developments and new offerings);
  • Monitoring reception activities to ensure a warm and helpful service to patrons and members;
  • Leading patron care to address individual needs and encouraging confident participation and usage of the facilities;
  • Coordinating bookings of the centre's facilities and liaising with regular groups; 
  • Instructing group classes as rostered;
  • Providing fitness assessments and personal training sessions;
  • Providing supervision of pools in line with Royal Life Saving Society of Australia guidelines; and
  • Completing routine administrative tasks including rostering, approving timesheets/leave requests, daily bank reconciliation, and correspondence.

About You

Junee Shire Council is seeking a charismatic and vibrant individual who has previous experience in the health and fitness industry.

You will have demonstrated leadership capabilities that will contribute to the success of the business (ideally, in an aquatic/leisure centre or similar high-volume, customer experience focused context); and be able to lead and motivate a team of 15.

Most importantly, you must be an energetic individual who is dedicated to building rapport with current members of the recreational centre; with a strong desire to drive new membership and be on the lookout for new and innovative improvements.

You’ll be an experienced leader of high energy group classes and a motivating and engaging personal trainer. As such, you’ll love connecting with a wide variety of clients of all fitness levels and seeing their fitness needs being met.

As a minimum, you will need to hold a current Certificate IV in Fitness or similar relevant qualification/ certification. In addition, it is preferable that candidates hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Pool Lifeguard Certificate and a Senior First Aid Certificate. However, Junee Shire Council is willing to cover the cost of these qualifications for the ideal candidate. 

Please note: Successful candidates must have a current “C” class driver’s licence as well as a current Working with Children Check.
